History and Mission

Founded in 2000 by Susana Salinas, BCA Dance Company, formerly Bolivia Corazón De América, was established to connect Bolivian American children with their cultural heritage. Over the years, the company has grown to celebrate the rich and diverse traditions of Bolivia while embracing dancers from across wide array of backgrounds.

BCA Dance Company is dedicated to educating audiences through high-quality, innovative, and professional performances. By reimagining ancient and rare Bolivian dance forms, the company preserves cultural traditions while infusing them with fresh, creative approaches.

Artistic Director
Isidro Alfonso Fajardo Mis is a migrant from Oxkutzcab, Yucatán, Mexico. As artistic director of BCA Dance Company, formerly Bolivia Corazón De América, he focuses on native and indigenous culture from Bolivia. His work delves into a theatrical exploration to set narratives and give voice to underrepresented ethnic groups within Bolivia’s borders. Theatrical representations of commonly known styles make his work stand out from traditional Bolivian folkloric groups and styles. In the last 20 years in his position, he has had the opportunity to present his work in the Bay Area and China. He is currently working with local Sociologists from Bolivia to continue his research on the Guaraní people to better represent their music, dance, attire, and traditions.
